What is Naturopathy
How can it Benefit me.?
How does it work.?
Naturopathy, or naturopathic medicine, is a system of medicine based on the healing power of nature. Naturopathy is a holistic system, meaning that naturopathic doctors (N.D.s) or naturopathic medical doctors (N.M.D.s) strive to find the cause of disease by understanding the body, mind, and spirit of the person. Most naturopathic doctors use a variety of therapies and techniques (such as nutrition, behavior change, herbal medicine, homeopathy, and acupuncture).
There are 2 areas of focus in naturopathy:
There are 2 areas of focus in naturopathy:
- one is supporting the body's own healing abilities,
- the other is empowering people to make lifestyle changes necessary for the best possible health. While naturopathic doctors treat both short bouts of illness and chronic conditions, their emphasis is on preventing disease and educating patients.
Because naturopaths combine so many therapies, it is difficult to single out specific illnesses that respond well to naturopathy. Naturopaths' treat both acute and chronic conditions from arthritis to ear infections (otitis media), from HIV to asthma, from congestive heart failure to hepatitis. N.D.s treat the whole person, rather than only treating a disease or its symptoms, aiming to help their patients maintain a balanced state of good health. Because of this holistic approach, naturopathy may be especially suited for treating chronic illnesses.
A visit to a naturopathic doctor, or N.D., will be similar to a visit to your family doctor. The doctor will take a very thorough history, asking about your diet, lifestyle, stress, and environmental exposures. Next, the N.D. will do a physical examination, which may require laboratory tests. In addition to conventional tests, N.D.s may use unique techniques, such as the Comprehensive Digestive Stool Analysis (CDSA), Indican urine testing, iridology, or live blood analysis to name a few.
What is Iridology
What can Iridology Reveal.?
How Does it work.?
Iridology is a scientific analysis based on the patterns that form on the iris of the eye with every injury, illness, or disease. The complex iris is composed of hundreds of thousands of nerve endings which are connected by impulses to every tissue of the body through the brain and nervous system. The nerve fibers, or trabecula, respond specifically to tissue and organ conditions with a corresponding physiological reflex manifested in the iris as lesions and color variations. The iris chart, which is the result of many years of clinical observation and intensive research by Dr. Bernard Jensen and others, represents the basic placement of body organs and tissues similar to a map.
An iridologist can pinpoint not only the problem, but also the cause of the recurring injury, illness, or disease. A complete iris analysis will show whether a person exhibits a generally good constitution or a poor one, depending upon the density of the iris fibers, The patterns, structures, colors and degrees of lightness and darkness in the iris tell if an area of the body is inherently strong or weak. It also reveals the relative site of over-activity, irritation, injury or degeneration of the tissues and organs. Toxic accumulation levels can he observed as well as nutritional and chemical imbalances.
The iridologist takes a picture of your eyes with a specialized camera that enlarges the image and detail of the iris for analysis. An accurate iris analysis is possible by superimposing the chart over an iris image projection, allowing detailed observation of the valuable and reliable data recorded there. We use only computerized iridology for scientific accuracy.
Indican (urine) & PH Balance Testing
The urine indican (or Obermeyer) test is an efficient aid used by naturopathic doctors in the screening for bacterial links to digestive issues. The indican test is a quick and efficient screening exam that assays the possibility of dysbiosis using a patient's urine. During occasions of over-growth, bacteria intercept the amino acid tryptophan before it can be processed by the small intestine. They break it down into unique parts which are then absorbed by the small intestine, changed around in the liver, and then excreted in the urine.
- Blue Diaper Syndrome
- Celiac Disease
- Diminished peristalsis
- Gastric Ulcer
- Hartnup's Disease (hereditary metabolism conditions)
- Inflammatory Bowel Disease
- Intestinal Obstruction
- Jejunal Diverticulosis
- Small Bowel Bacterial Overgrowth (SBBO)Increased protein or tryptophan consumption
Colonics is a natural and efficient way of ridding your body of these toxins which allows the lungs, liver, lymphatics, kidneys, skin, brain and other organs to work more efficiently.
- Improves Digestion and Prevents Constipation
- Increases Energy and Concentration
- Jumpstarts Weight Loss
- Supports Overall Colon Health
- Encourages Whole Body Detox
Waste material especially that which has remained in the colon for some time (ie. impacted faeces, dead cellular tissue, accumulated mucus, parasites, worms, etc.) can cause many health issues because it can become quite toxic (poisonous). If these toxins are not eliminated from the bowel, they can re-enter and circulate in the bloodstream, making us feel ill, tired and weak.
Impacted materials on the lining of the bowel impair the colon’s ability to assimilate vitamins and minerals as well it can inhibit muscular action causing sluggish bowel movements, slow transit time, and constipation. Conditions that usually respond well to colon cleansing include constipation, bloating, IBS, skin problems and spastic bowel symptoms.
